I was born on May 21, 1991 in Ventura California. I moved to Medford Wisconsin in July of 1997 where I lived for 11 years. I graduated from Medford Area Senior High School on May 20th 2009. Directly after I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps with the job title of Infantryman. In March of 2011 I deployed to Sangin Afghanistan.
On June 13, 2011 I stepped on a pressure plate I.E.D. I was sent to Bethesda Maryland where I had the bulk of my surgeries until August 7th of 2011 when I was flown to Navy Medical Center San Diego where I am currently stationed. I am a double amputee above the knee, I lost four fingers on my left hand along with my left eye, both my testicle’s and half my penis. I am currently finished with all of my surgeries and now waiting for my MED board to go through.
Two years after his incident in Afganistan, Blunt was ready to take on his most challenging mission yet— a long ascent up Mt. Kosciuszco, the tallest peak on the Australian continent. Stay tuned for more stories of his adventure and check out our facebook for more photography from his epic climb.
